IPA-ADRION00220 — NBS4RESILIENCE
The Adriatic-Ionian region is experiencing climate change impacts more severely than the global average, with rising air and sea temperatures. This has made the region increasingly vulnerable to climate-related disasters. The NBS4RESILIENCE project aims to enhance climate resilience through nature-based solutions (NBS) that reduce climate risks, promote biodiversity, and improve ecosystem services. The project will research, co-create and implement climate-resilient NBS, involving local communities in decision-making and raising awareness about the necessity of climate resilience. It will test solutions through pilots in six countries, addressing issues like flooding, erosion, heat, drought, coastal resilience, and wildfires. The pilot actions will allow to transfer the findings into the joint Transnational Climate Resilient NBS-based Transition Strategy for the IPA ADRION region. Finally, NBS4RESILIENCE will foster long-term science-policy-practice collaborations that will deliver several policy proposals and complemented NBS standards to support the widespread adoption of NBS for climate resilience in the region.
